The 5 free transcriptions are counted per install and only spent when a transcription succeeds — a failed one does not cost you anything. The count lives on the device, not in an account.
The subscription terms, in plain words
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before that.
- Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Trials are one per subscription group, per Apple's rules.
- Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Capster cannot issue them directly.
- Prices shown are US dollars. Apple sets the equivalent in your storefront's currency, and the App Store is the price that counts.

Yes. Without a subscription you get 5 transcriptions, clips up to 2 minutes, and 2 of the 9 caption styles. Exporting is never blocked — free exports carry a small Capster badge and a short outro instead.
Is the yearly plan worth it over monthly?
Twelve months at $6.99 costs $83.88. The yearly plan is $29.99, which works out at $2.50 a month and saves 64%. The 3-day free trial is on the yearly plan, so you can see the app do a real export before you are charged.
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Apple charges $29.99 when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that. Trials are one per subscription group, so a second trial on the same Apple Account is not offered.
How do I cancel?
In Settings on your iPhone: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Capster, then Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends or the next one is charged. Deleting the app does not cancel anything.
Can I get a refund?
Apple processes the payment, so Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account you bought it on. Capster cannot issue a refund directly, and any statutory withdrawal right you have is unaffected.
Is there a one-off purchase instead of a subscription?
No. Transcription runs on a paid speech-to-text service that charges per minute of audio, so a single payment could not cover unlimited future use. Pro is monthly or yearly, and the free tier stays free.
